How does the photo upload process work?
▶
Guests visit your custom upload link, enter their name, and select photos/videos from their device. Files are uploaded directly to your cloud storage folder (Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive) without being stored on our servers.
What file types are supported?
▶
We support a wide variety of file formats:
Images: JPEG, JPG, PNG, GIF, HEIC, HEIF, BMP, TIFF, TIF, SVG, AVIF, JXL, CR2, CRW, NEF, ARW, DNG, ORF, RAF, DCR
Videos: MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM, MKV, FLV, WMV, M4V, 3GP, 3GPP, OGG, MTS, M2TS, TS
Archives: ZIP, 7Z, TAR
Files can be of any size since they're uploaded directly to your cloud storage.
Is there a limit on the number of photos?
▶
With our paid plans (Single Event $30, Premium $50, and Pro $70), there are no limits on the number of photos or videos. The only limitation is your cloud storage space. Free accounts have access to demo features but cannot connect to cloud storage for uploads.
Can I customize the upload page?
▶
Yes! You can create custom URLs for your events (e.g., sharingtheday.com/your-custom-url/event-name/upload) and generate QR codes for easy sharing.
What are refresh tokens and why might I need to reconnect?
▶
Cloud storage providers use "refresh tokens" for security, which expire after certain periods: Google Drive (6 months), OneDrive (90 days), and Dropbox (no expiry). When tokens expire, you'll need to reconnect your cloud storage - it's a quick 30-second process! We'll send you an email notification when this happens, but we recommend checking your event page a few days before your event to ensure everything is connected. Reconnecting is simple: just click "Reconnect" in your dashboard and authorize access again.
How secure are the uploaded photos?
▶
Very secure! Photos are uploaded directly to your personal cloud storage folder. We never store files on our servers, and only you have access to your storage folder.
Can guests see photos uploaded by others?
▶
Yes! Guests always have access to view all uploaded photos and videos through our beautiful gallery interface. However, guests can only view - they cannot delete, modify, or download anything (unless you enable download permissions). This creates a wonderful shared viewing experience for everyone at your event.
How do I download all the photos?
▶
You can download individual photos from the gallery view or use our "Download All" feature to get all photos in a single ZIP file. Photos are also directly accessible in your cloud storage.
Do you store our photos and videos? Is there a file transfer limit?
▶
Can guests download photos and videos?
▶
This is completely up to you! As the event organizer, you control guest download permissions through your event settings. You can choose to allow guests to download individual photos, download all photos as a ZIP file, or restrict downloads to organizer-only. This gives you full control over how guests interact with the uploaded content.
What file formats and sizes are supported?
▶
We support virtually every photo and video format! This includes common formats (JPG, PNG, MP4, MOV), professional formats (RAW camera files like CR2, NEF, ARW), modern formats (HEIC, AVIF, WebM), and even archives (ZIP, TAR, 7Z). There's no file size limit since uploads go directly to your cloud storage. Whether it's a quick phone snap or a 4K professional video, we handle it all!
How does the QR code and custom URL work?
▶
Each event gets a custom URL (like sharingtheday.com/your-custom-url/event-name/upload) and a personalized QR code. Guests can either visit the URL directly or scan the QR code with their phone camera - both take them straight to your upload page. No app downloads, no account creation required. Print the QR code on table cards, programs, or signage for seamless photo sharing during your event!
Is there a mobile app required for guests?
▶
Absolutely not! Our service works entirely through web browsers - no app downloads required. Guests simply scan the QR code or visit your custom URL using any smartphone, tablet, or computer. The upload interface is fully optimized for mobile devices, making it incredibly easy for guests to share photos without the hassle of downloading and setting up another app.
Can guests leave messages along with their photos?
▶
Yes! After uploading photos, guests are invited to leave a personal message for you. These heartfelt messages are private and only visible to you through your event dashboard. It's a wonderful way to capture not just the visual memories, but also the thoughts and well-wishes from your loved ones. You'll receive email notifications for both photo uploads and new messages.
What makes this better than just sharing a Google Drive folder?
▶
Great question! While you could share a cloud storage folder directly, our service adds tremendous value: No guest accounts needed (no Google/Microsoft/Dropbox signups), beautiful upload interface optimized for events, QR codes and custom URLs for easy sharing, guest messaging system, organized gallery view, bulk download options, real-time email notifications, and mobile optimization. Plus, you get professional Canva templates and complete control over guest permissions. It transforms a simple folder share into a complete photo-sharing experience!
What happens after my event?
▶
Your photos remain in your cloud storage indefinitely. You can keep the upload link active or disable it anytime from your dashboard. All photos are yours to keep forever.
How many events can I create?
▶
Event limits depend on your tier: Free accounts can create unlimited events but cannot connect to cloud storage (demo mode only). Single Event ($30) allows 1 connected cloud storage event. Premium ($50) allows 2 connected events. Pro ($70) allows 5 connected events plus the ability to purchase additional events as needed.
What happens if my cloud storage fills up?
▶
If your cloud storage reaches capacity, new uploads will fail. We'll send you email notifications when your storage is getting full and when uploads fail, so you can take action quickly. You can either free up space in your cloud storage or upgrade your cloud storage plan (Google Drive offers 100GB for $1.99/month, OneDrive offers 100GB for $1.99/month, Dropbox offers 2TB for $11.99/month). Our system will automatically resume accepting uploads once space is available again.
Can I connect to multiple cloud providers?
▶
Yes! You can connect Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox to your account simultaneously. When creating each event, you choose which cloud provider to use for that specific event. This gives you flexibility to use different providers for different occasions or to spread your storage across multiple accounts.
Is the upload link public? Who can access it?
▶
Yes, anyone with the upload link can upload photos - it's designed for easy sharing at events! There's no password protection by design, making it simple for guests to participate without barriers. However, the link is unique to your event and includes a secure token, so only people you share it with (via QR code or direct link) will know it exists. You can disable the upload link anytime from your dashboard if you want to stop accepting new uploads.
Can I see who uploaded which photo?
▶
Absolutely! Every uploaded file is automatically renamed with the uploader's name and timestamp (e.g., "John-Smith_2024-01-15_IMG_1234.jpg"). Additionally, the gallery displays an overlay on each thumbnail showing the uploader's name (e.g., "John Smith"), making it easy to see who contributed which photos at a glance. Your event dashboard also shows upload statistics and activity logs.
Can I delete photos or disable my event?
▶
Yes! You have full control from your dashboard. You can disable the upload link to stop accepting new photos, delete individual photos from your cloud storage, or delete the entire event. Since all photos are stored in YOUR cloud storage account, you always maintain complete ownership and control. Deleting an event from our system removes the upload link and event data but leaves your photos safely in your cloud storage.
What browsers and devices are supported?
▶
Our service works on all modern web browsers: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and mobile browsers. The upload interface is fully optimized for mobile devices (phones and tablets), making it incredibly easy for guests to upload photos right from their devices. No app downloads or special software required - just a web browser!
How long does the upload link stay active?
▶
Your upload link stays active indefinitely until you choose to disable it. This means guests can continue uploading photos days, weeks, or even months after your event if they discover photos later. You're in complete control - enable or disable uploads anytime from your event dashboard. Many users keep the link active for a few weeks after the event to catch any late photo submissions!
What if multiple guests upload at the same time?
▶
Our system handles up to 10 concurrent uploads at once per user, which is plenty for most events! If more guests try to upload simultaneously, their uploads are automatically queued and processed as slots become available. Large files (like 4K videos) get a generous 2-hour upload timeout to ensure successful transfers even on slower connections. The system is built to handle the busy moments of your event when everyone's uploading at once!
Is there a cost difference between cloud providers?
▶
No! All three cloud providers (Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox) work exactly the same on all our pricing tiers. Choose whichever provider you prefer or already have storage with - there's no price difference or feature limitation based on your cloud storage choice. The Single Event, Premium, and Pro tiers all support all three providers equally.
